COULD MY ACCOUNT HAVE BEEN DEBITED BY MISTAKE?

Unfortunately, the answer is yes. Legally your account may only be debited if you mandated it, either in writing or in a recording. However, if the data capturer made and error and typed a 4 instead of a 6, the wrong account may be debited.
The same could happen if the real account holder mistakenly provides an incorrect account number. If this happened to you, please accept our apology. We will gladly assist in having it rectified.


IF YOUR BANK ACCOUNT WAS DEBITED WITH AN UNFAMILIAR AMOUNT

COULD STRATCOL PREVENT THIS MISTAKE?

We process what our clients provide us with in electronic format. We run more than 1 million debit orders per month, making it physically impossible to have each verified before the action date. We do make sure that our clients follow the correct procedures by spot-checking transactions monthly. We also run certain confidential tests ensuring that the errors are indeed errors and not an indication of fraud.
Ten errors by one client processing twenty transactions give you one picture, but ten errors by a big corporation processing ten thousand transactions gives a complete different picture. Where we are of the opinion that any error is not a bona fide error, but due to a lack of proper quality control, we take disciplinary action against our client.


SO WHAT NOW?

If your account has been debited by error, we will assist you in having it rectified. Please contact our call centre where you will be supplied with the contact details of our client.
You may then claim an immediate refund from them. In most instances we can provide you with both their telephone number and an e-mail address. If for any reason you are not refunded, please e-mail this fact to us and we will assist you.
You are most probably going to contact us because your bank account was debited with an unfamiliar debit.

We will assist you by giving you the information of the organisation that has instructed us to debit your account. In order to do that we need your bank account number. Please keep it at hand when phoning us, or state it clearly when sending us an e-mail.
